The Search for Meaning
The Internet presentation of the audio series produced by Search Ministries. It 'recreates' a dialog between two men discussing the 12 most asked questions about God. It was originally based on the book, "I'm Glad You Asked," by Ken Boa and Larry Moody.

This presentation addresses questions concerning the very existence of God, whether belief in God is just a psychological crutch for weak people, does Heaven exist and how does one get there, why does all powerful God allow innocent people to suffer, and eight other issues. It offers real evidence and logical responses, not simply dogma, emotionalism, or a leap of faith. Honest seekers and doubters who want their faith in God to make sense will find real help in these dialogues, as will those who desire to give reasons for their faith. This will interest all who want to build a solid basis for purpose, meaning, ethics, and personal priorities in life.

INTRODUCTION

More To This Life
by Steven Curtis Chapman

Today I watched in silence as people passed me by,
And I strained to see if there was something hidden in their eyes;
But they all looked at me as if to say
Life just goes on.

The old familiar story told in different ways,
Make the most of your own journey from the cradle to the grave;
Dream your dreams tomorrow because today
Life must go on.

CHORUS
But there is more to this life than living and dying,
More than just trying to make it through the day;
More to this life, more than these eyes alone can see,
And there is more than this life alone can be.

Tonight he lies in silence staring into space,
And looks for ways to make tomorrow better than today,
But in the morning light it looks the same;
Life just goes on.

He takes care of his family, he takes care of his work,
And every Sunday morning he takes his place at the church;
And somehow he still feels a need to search,
But life just goes on.

CHORUS

So where do we start to find every part
Of what makes this life complete;
If we turn our eyes to Jesus we'll find
Life's true beginning is there at the cross where He died.
He died to bring us . . .

PURPOSE #1: WORSHIP

Open The Eyes of My Heart
by Paul Baloche

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart;
I want to see You, I want to see You.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart;
I want to see You, I want to see You.

CHORUS
To see You high and lifted up,
Shining in the light of Your glory.
Pour out Your pow'r and love;
As we sing holy, holy, holy...

BRIDGE
Holy, holy, holy,
Holy, holy, holy,
Holy, holy, holy,
I want to see You.
I want to hear You.
I want to know You.
I want to see You.

PURPOSE #2: FELLOWSHIP

What Matters Most
by Cheri Keaggy

Filling this verse with superlative words
Making the most clever rhymes.
Wouldn't amount to much
Just wouldn't count for much.
If you can't read between lines.
But I have discovered
I've finally uncovered
A most significant thing
It's a noble theme.

CHORUS
What matters most
Is how much we love.
What matters most
Is how much we give.
What would it matter
If we just lived
Without loving our God
Without loving each other.
Faith, hope and love, especially love
That's what matters most
What matters most.

Once just a girl
In a curious world.
Learning the meaning of life
Tell me what is the reason.
And why do the seasons keep turning
The pages of time.
I had to discover the things from above
For the days turn so quickly to years
Then they disappear.

Not money, not power not fame or position.
Don't want it, don't need it don't give me religion.
All I wanna hear,
All I wanna see,
All I wanna read about is,
All I wanna live,
All I wanna know,
All I wanna be about is,
Love, what matters most.
Givin' love, what matters most.

CHORUS

Setting our sights
On the needs of our brother.
Loving our neighbor as we love ourselves
We give to the Lord.
When we give to each other
Faith, hope and love, especially love.
Faith, hope and love, especially love.
That's what matters most,
What matters most.

PURPOSE #3: DISCIPLESHIP

Refiner's Fire
by Brian Doerksen

Purify my heart
Let me be as gold and precious silver.
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold, pure gold.

Refiner's fire
My heart's one desire.
Is to be holy
Set apart for You, Lord.
I choose to be holy
Set apart for You, my Master
Ready to do Your will.

Purify my heart
Cleanse me from within
And make me holy.
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from my sin
Deep within.

PURPOSE #4: MINISTRY

Whenever You Need Somebody
by Natalie Grant

I know that life seems hard, cruel and unkind
A lonesome journey with questions in your mind.
I'll hold your weary hand as you walk down the road
Remember you're never alone.

CHORUS
Whenever you need somebody,
Whenever you want someone.
To reach out and touch you,
With a love that is strong.
Whenever you need somebody,
Whenever you want a friend.
To chase away the clouds and help the sun shine again.
I will be that friend.

If I could have one wish this I would pray
A heavenly miracle, your pain to drift away.
So I'll keep on prayin' until that day comes
Remember that I'll be the one.

CHORUS

I'll give you strength in times you're feeling weak.
I'll give you hope and help you to believe.

PURPOSE #5: MISSION

Go Light Your World
by Kathy Troccoli

There is a candle in every soul
Some brightly burning, some dark and cold.
There is a Spirit who brings fire
Ignites a candle and makes His home.

Carry your candle, run to the darkness
Seek out the hopeless, confused and torn.
Hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle, and go light your world.
Take your candle, and go light your world.

Frustrated brother, see how he's tried to
Light his own candle some other way.
See now your sister, she's been robbed and lied to
Still holds a candle without a flame.

Carry your candle, run to the darkness
Seek out the lonely, the tired and worn.
Hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle, and go light your world.
Take your candle, and go light your world.

We are a family whose hearts are blazing
So let's raise our candles and light up the sky.
Praying to our Father, in the name of Jesus
Make us a beacon in darkest times.

Carry your candle, run to the darkness
Seek out the helpless, deceived and poor.
Hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle, and go light your world.

Carry your candle, run to the darkness
Seek out the hopeless, confused and torn.
Hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle, and go light your world.
Take your candle, and go light your world.
